How to Properly Grease and Maintain Lu'an Jianghuai Motors

In the actual maintenance of Lu'an Jianghuai motors, one of the most common problems is bearing overheating and damage caused by insufficient lubrication. This is often not a motor quality issue, but a maintenance issue. In many cases, the motor bearing housing is not inspected or lubricated regularly, which causes the bearings to run at high speed for a long time without enough grease. As a result, the temperature rises, the bearing becomes damaged, and the motor may eventually fail.

Why Motor Bearing Lubrication Is Important

Proper lubrication is essential for stable motor operation. Bearings support the rotor and allow it to rotate smoothly. If the grease is insufficient, deteriorated, or contaminated, friction increases, heat rises, and the bearing life is shortened. In severe cases, the motor may stop working completely.

To reduce failure rates, motor bearing housings should be inspected regularly. The bearing temperature should also be monitored, and grease should be added in time according to the operating condition.

How Often Should Grease Be Added?

The greasing interval depends on motor pole count, operating environment, running hours, and load condition. As a general rule:

  • 2-pole motors: relubricate every 6 months

  • 4-pole motors and above: relubricate every 12 months

If the motor operates in a harsh environment, at high temperature, or under continuous duty, the lubrication cycle should be shortened accordingly.

How Much Grease Should Be Added?

The grease filling amount is also very important. Too little grease will not provide enough lubrication, while too much grease will cause excessive heat and may damage the bearing.

In general:

  • The grease filling amount should be about 1/2 to 2/3 of the bearing chamber

  • For the bearing cap oil chamber, the filling amount should be about 60% to 70%

  • When adding grease to the bearing, it is enough to fill until the rolling elements are evenly covered

Overfilling is not recommended, because too much grease will increase resistance and cause the bearing housing to overheat.

What Kind of Grease Should Be Used?

A suitable grease should be selected according to the motor’s working environment and operating conditions. The grease must be clean and free from contamination. Dust, sand, metal particles, or any other impurities must not be mixed into the grease.

When applying grease, the tools used, such as grease guns, fingers, or wooden sticks, must also be clean. Dirty tools can easily introduce contaminants into the bearing chamber and reduce lubrication performance.

Greasing Procedure for Lu'an Jianghuai Motors

1. Routine Maintenance and Minor Service

During regular maintenance or minor service, grease can be added without fully disassembling the motor.

If necessary, part of the old grease in the bearing can be removed first, and then fresh grease can be added in a controlled amount.

2. Major Overhaul

For major maintenance, all bearing grease should be completely replaced.

First, remove the rotor from the stator. Then clean the bearing and related parts thoroughly with gasoline or an equivalent cleaning agent. Make sure the parts are completely dry before applying new grease.

When re-greasing, do not add too much grease. Excess grease may cause bearing overheating and can lead to serious damage.

Important Notes for Grease Maintenance

When lubricating Lu'an Jianghuai motors, please keep the following points in mind:

  1. Keep the grease clean and prevent contamination from dust, sand, or metal particles.

  2. Use clean tools during maintenance.

  3. Do not overfill the bearing cap; the grease chamber should be filled to about 60% to 70%.

  4. Add grease only until the rolling elements are properly coated.

  5. Replace the grease completely during overhaul, even if the old grease still appears usable.

Regular greasing is one of the most important tasks in motor maintenance. Proper lubrication can effectively reduce bearing wear, prevent overheating, and extend the service life of Lu'an Jianghuai motors.

If grease is added in the right amount, at the right interval, and with the right method, the motor will run more reliably and with fewer failures.
